Last Monday Haley received two awards at her school. One was for the Principal's Honor Roll with a 4.0 & the other was a citizenship award that her classmates voted her to receive.

I haven't rambled in a while, right?

*  This past Saturday Haley & Savannah had a piano recital.  The girls both did great & we are very proud of them!  I feel bad that it was Savannah's first piano recital & even though I remembered the camera, I forgot to take pictures.  Sorry Savannah!  I think Judd took some with his cell phone.

*  Matthew has been talking a lot about his mission.  For some reason missionaries & the mission are very intriguing to him right now.  He found a picture taken at his preschool last year, wrote his name & a little message (gibberish stuff) on the back.  He gave it to Judd & told him that when he gets bigger he's going to go on a mission for 3 weeks.  He knows that Judd will miss him so he wrote his name & I love you on the back of the picture so Judd will remember what he looks like.  He has also been requesting a suit to wear to church.  Judd is loving this whole missionary/I want a suit thing & took him to JC Penney on Saturday for a suit.  They came home with 2 suits (2 different sizes so Mom could determine which fit better) & a lavender colored shirt & tie.  They were both grinning from ear to ear.  So stinkin' cute!

*  We got Haley's first official report card in the mail on Friday.  She has a 4.0 GPA.  After showing Judd & I she proceeded to let us know that some of her friends get $ for their "A's".  I gave her a kiss, a hug & took her to buy a new Sunday outfit (which was already in the plans).  Even though we did not pay her for her hard work we are very proud of her!

*  Yesterday was an emotional roller coaster for me.  I was teaching the YW & went to church feeling a little nervous.  As I sat & listened to the testimonies I was feeling better & better.  I honestly can't remember the last time I have felt the spirit so strongly in a fast & testimony meeting.  It was wonderful (maybe the fact that Luke was home taking a nap contributed to me being able to actually listen).  Regardless it was fabulous!  So obviously I was feeling great come the conclusion of  Sacrament meeting.  Then I got blindsided by a Bishopric member & asked to speak in 2 weeks on the 7th Article of Faith.   I dislike speaking!  Really. Really dislike it, but I said yes.  Now I was back to being nervous.  Then I came home & Judd & I sat down & he gave me some great ideas & talked me into thinking this is the greatest Article of Faith to speak on, kind of.

*  On Friday Judd & I attended a celebration of life (funeral) service for a client of his.  These are some very dear clients of Judd's.  He has had a monthly visit with them for the past 6+ years.  We have gone to dinner with them a handful of times & have really gotten to know them well.  So this made Judd very sad.  This man's wife is an only child & never had children.  She has been feeling very alone & has really relied on Judd for help & advice over the past few weeks. I'm grateful that she feels comfortable enough to call Judd at 11pm & 6am & all hours in between.  The service was at a Methodist church in Portland.  It was a nice service & made me even more grateful for my knowledge of eternal life & the gift of the atonement.  We then attended a get together at her condo.  We met a colleague of the surgeon who did my appendectomy there (she's their neighbor).  Very nice lady.  It was actually a crazy/interesting conversation to have with her about medicine, her colleague (the Doc that did my surgery) & surgeries in general.  Kind of a crazy way to end that night but it was great day!

*  We had my parents, my brother, his fiance & his friend over for Super Bowl food & fun yesterday.  I really wasn't rooting for anyone but did think it would be nice for Aaron Rodgers to make his mark in Green Bay.  Tessa was rooting for the Steelers.  Because some of us didn't get out of church until 4 we didn't start the game until close to 5 (I think).  Anyway, bottom line.....we missed the last 2 minutes of the game.  Oh my heavens!  I know the score didn't change but really, missing the last few minutes of the super bowl is crazy nonsense.  Thank you DVR box!  But Congrats to Green Bay & so sorry Tessa, maybe next year.

Happy Birthday Haley!

11 years ago today Haley joined our family.  She was our first baby & I remember the excitement & anticipation Judd & I had! She was born at 10:03 pm.  She weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz.

Just a few hours old....if even that

Leaving the hospital to head home

On her blessing day

On that day we were just so grateful to have a healthy baby girl & now 11 years later we are more grateful for her.  She's a wonderful first child, responsible, caring, hardworking.  She's always willing to be the 2nd mom & I have really grown to love & appreciate that about her!

Here she was this morning heading out to school.

She is bringing a friend home with her today (since they don't have school tomorrow).  We are going to Cheesecake Factory for dinner & then the girls will stay up late giggling & eating munchies while watching a movie.  At least that's my guess.

Happy Birthday Haley!
